They agree on the ranking, and they agree on the more useful number: October carries the highest count of rainy days in the calendar, somewhere around 24.

What a monthly total hides is the timing. Wet-season rain here mostly does not fall as a grey all-day drizzle. It arrives in bursts, heavily weighted toward the late afternoon and evening, and then it stops and the street steams. Layered on top of that, from October into December the city sits in the path of tropical depressions and typhoons coming off the East Sea · a different category of weather entirely. Those days flood the low ground, close roads and are not days for planning anything.

Take the storm days out and what is left is a season where the sky is reliably against you for two or three hours somewhere between 15:00 and 20:00, and largely indifferent the rest of the time. In November you cannot, and the reason is physics rather than inconvenience: evaporation needs a humidity gradient, and at ninety percent there is barely one. Hair that leaves the building damp stays damp for hours, sits warm against the scalp under a hotel air-conditioner, and undoes a good part of what you just paid for.

So treat the finish as a specification, not a flourish. A proper one is ten to fifteen minutes of hot air and a round brush, and it is the difference between the ritual ending well and ending with a towel in your room. Rain shrinks the map

A 700-metre walk to An Thượng costs nothing in March. In an October burst it is the entire plan, and the burst does not give notice. The practical consequence is one every wet-season visitor meets sooner or later: motorbike-taxi supply collapses at exactly the moment the rain starts, because the drivers are getting wet too, and Grab cars go to surge pricing with a queue behind them. A ten-minute ride across the Dragon Bridge becomes forty.

So book the house you can reach on foot in bad weather rather than the one you liked the look of on the map. If you are on the river side, that means Hải Châu and the streets around Hàn Market; if you are near the beach, Mỹ An and An Thượng. What you should not do in October is book a 19:00 slot on the opposite bank. Two counter-side details make the rest easier. The best month of the year to book

The wet season is low season, and low season is where the arithmetic turns. The Friday and Saturday evening pressure that makes a walk-in fail in July eases considerably once the beach stops working; the rooms in Mỹ An that turn couples away in high summer take them at 19:30 in late October. Nothing about the ritual is worse. The decoction is the same decoction and the hands are the same hands, and you are simply not competing for them.

So, plainly: October is the best month of the year to have a head spa in Da Nang.
